Brumbies Rugby are pleased to announce tighthead prop Sefo Kautai has re-signed with the club until the end of 2024.

Kautai joined the club as injury cover in 2021 and made his debut against the Western Force mere days after arriving in Canberra.

The 25-year-old former Junior All-Black has gone from strength to strength in his second season at the Brumbies, making five starting appearances to date.

Kautai previously played Super Rugby with the Chiefs, while also representing Waikato in the New Zealand provincial competition and will return to Waikato for the 2022 NPC season.

Brumbies tighthead prop, Sefo Kautai said: “I’m really happy to be staying with the Brumbies.”

“It’s a pretty special group of boys here and I’ve loved being part of it.”

“My time here has been really special so far and it’s a privilege to represent the club.”

Brumbies head coach, Dan McKellar said: “It’s great for the Brumbies to have Sefo re-sign with the club for another couple years.”

“We knew we were fortunate to find a tighthead with Super Rugby experience when we needed someone on short notice last year but Sef’s exceeded all expectations and has fitted seamlessly into the club.

“Depth at tighthead is critical and we’ve seen that this season, where Sefo has slotted in and brought value so having him stay at the Brumbies is fantastic.”

The Brumbies will take on Moana Pasifika in round 15 of Harvey Norman Super Rugby Pacific at GIO Stadium, Canberra on Saturday May 28 at 5.05pm AEST.
