Decision made, Kadin Pritchard is staying in rugby union and in Canberra.

The ACT Brumbies are excited to announce the rising centre has committed his future to Rugby Union and the Brumbies, putting pen to paper on a deal that keeps him in Canberra until the end of 2030.

Turning down interest from rugby league and rival clubs, Pritchard said the decision came down to his belief in rugby, the Brumbies environment and the opportunity to continue developing alongside an exciting group of young players and experienced leaders.

“I’m really happy to have it sorted and to know I’ll be staying in Canberra and continuing with the Brumbies,” Pritchard said.

“Rugby is the sport for me. I love the game and I feel like I’m only starting to see what I can become as a player. Canberra is the best place for me to keep developing.

“To be playing in this backline and learning under Stephen Larkham, I couldn’t ask for a better situation. There’s so much experience around the group, and the older guys set a really good standard for the younger players coming through.

“There’s also an exciting group of young players here. We’re all developing together, and I think we’ve got a really good group with a great opportunity to make our mark on the competition over the next few years.

“Playing in front of the Canberra fans this year has been amazing. I can’t wait to see that support grow over the next few years and be part of building something special here at the Brumbies.”

Kadin Pritchard 2030

Born in New Zealand, to Kiwi father Dan and Ghanaian mother Brenda, Pritchard moved to Australia and, alongside his brother Treyvon, began his rugby journey in Brisbane.

The fleet-footed back was a schoolboy star for St Peter’s Lutheran College, quickly finding himself on the radar of the Brumbies Elite Development Squad. After making the move to Canberra, his development was fast-tracked through the Brumbies system, earning Australian U20s selection in 2024 before signing his first Super Rugby Pacific contract in 2025.

He made his Super Rugby debut off the bench against the Fijian Drua in Round One that year but then spent a season waiting for his next opportunity behind Wallabies star Len Ikitau.

With Ikitau taking a sabbatical in Exeter, Pritchard got his opportunity in 2026 and took the Super Rugby stage in his stride. He established himself in the No. 13 jersey, recording one try, 88 carries for 647 metres, eight line breaks, 16 tackle breaks, five offloads, 12 turnovers, 91 tackles and five big hits.

Stats aside, there is a different look to the player who came down from Brisbane. The shoulders are broader, the there’s a confidence in the way he directs his defensive line, and an assuredness that comes from a full season of Super Rugby under his belt.

Now, with Ikitau returning in 2027, the prospect of the pair sharing the midfield opens an intriguing new chapter for the Brumbies.

Head Coach Stephen Larkham has seen first-hand how much the young centre has grown into the demands of the No. 13 jersey.

“Kadin has taken great strides through his first full Super Rugby season, and we’re delighted to have him on board for the future,” Larkham said.

“He’s handled the demands of this year’s competition well, and we’ve seen clear progression in his game. At 13 he was a lynchpin of our defensive system and by the end of the season we saw a really good balance in attack between his physicality, energy and flair.”

“He’s also part of our Emerging Leaders Group, which is helping him grow his influence beyond his own performance.

“He’s an extremely talented young player, and we’re really excited about where he can take his game. The fact he’s chosen to continue his development here says a lot about Kadin, his character and what this club means to him.”

With his first full Super Rugby season behind him, Pritchard now has the experience, confidence and platform to take another step in the No. 13 jersey. At just 22, the next stage of his career promises to be one to watch.
