Plus500 Brumbies club legend Garry ‘Quinzo’ Quinlivan has been honoured by Rugby Australia with the 2020 Nick Farr-Jones Spirit of Rugby Award.

A stalwart of ACT rugby for over five decades, Quinzo has volunteered as the Brumbies Assistant Manager since the club’s foundation in 1996.

Beloved and respected by the Brumbies players past and present, Quinzo has played a pivotal role in establishing the Brumbies ethos and culture, showing up to headquarters first, and leaving last.

Plus500 Brumbies CEO Phil Thomson said: “On behalf of everyone at the Brumbies, I want to thank Rob and Rugby Australia for honouring Quinzo with this award.”

“While he certainly hasn’t done the things, he has done for the club for attention or awards, it is a special day for everyone here at the club because we all know his commitment to this game and it’s great that that has been recognized by Rugby Australia.

“The players, his boys as he calls them, from the Brumby #1 Patricio Noriega to Brumby #229 Issak Fines adore Quinzo, and he genuinely cares deeply for them.

“It’s not hyperbole to say that the Brumbies would not be what it is without Quinzo, and again on the behalf of the Brumbies, the 229 players who have worn the colours and the staff, I’d like to thank Quinzo for his incredible dedication to the club and to ACT rugby. ”
