Rugby Australia has announced a 10-Test schedule for the Wallaroos in 2026 featuring a historic tour of the USA and a three-match series in the UK and Europe.
The Wallaroos will play four Test matches on home soil next year against Fijiana, the Black Ferns and Scotland (twice) in addition to tours of the USA, the UK and Europe as the road to the once-in-a-generation 2029 Rugby World Cup in Australia begins.
Australia will play a minimum of 10 Test matches per year throughout this World Cup cycle ensuring consistent, high-level competition against the world's best teams across the Pacific Four Series and the new WXV Global Series.
The Wallaroos will open their 2026 international campaign against Fijiana at GIO Stadium in Canberra on March 27 where they will look to retain the Vuvale Bowl after last year’s historic and hard-fought Test in Suva. The match will coincide with the ACT Brumbies clash against the NSW Waratahs in Round 7 of the Swyftx Super Rugby Pacific season.
That will be followed by a two-Test tour of the USA – the first time the Wallaroos have toured the country - featuring matches against Canada (April 11) and the USA (April 17).
The Wallaroos will return home to prepare for a two-Test O’Reilly Cup series, opening with a home Test against the Black Ferns in April.
The international season will then break for the Swyftx Super Rugby Women’s competition in June, which will maintain a five-round format, followed by a full finals series and the Women’s Super Rugby Champions Final - the cross-over match against the winner of New Zealand's Super Rugby Aupiki.
The full Swyftx Super Rugby Women’s schedule for 2026, including the Aupiki fixture, will be announced early next year.
Following the completion of the Swyftx Super Rugby Women’s season, the Wallaroos regroup to face the Black Ferns in the return leg of the O’Reilly Cup at Go Media Stadium in Auckland.
The match will be the 100th Test played by the Wallaroos, dating back to their inaugural match at North Sydney Oval on September 2, 1994, also against New Zealand.
Australia will then head to the Northern Hemisphere to play three Tests as part of the new-look WXV Global series in September with opponents, venues and dates to be announced in 2026.
The Wallaroos round out their 2026 campaign with two home Tests against Scotland in what will be the Scots’ first ever tour of Australia.
Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh said:
“The road to the 2029 World Cup in Australia begins now for the Wallaroos and the schedule for the next 12 months allows the squad to build a solid base.
“Having a consistent 10 Test matches each year for the next three years provides stability at the international level for the players to get quality matches in.
“The Wallaroos will play the top teams in the world, including Rugby World Cup 2025 runners-up Canada and renew our rivalries with New Zealand and the United States.
“The opportunity to travel to the US and Europe provides vital experience for the squad while we look forward to hosting Scotland on home soil for the first time.”
Rugby Australia General Manager of Women’s Rugby Jilly Collins said:
“Following the incredible Rugby World Cup in England, it's fantastic to confirm a bumper year for the squad, featuring notable firsts like an outbound tour of the USA and the inbound series against Scotland.
“Reaching our 100th Test match next year will be a powerful milestone. It took 24 years to reach 50, and only eight more to hit 100 - a clear demonstration of the accelerated development of the women's game.
“A huge amount of work has gone on behind the scenes with World Rugby and other unions to reshape the women's calendar and secure world-class opposition for the next four years as part of the WXV Global Series.
“While there is plenty more to do, this is another key building block as we build towards 2029.”
Tickets for home Test matches will go on sale in early 2026.
