The Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies are excited to announce the re-signing of winger Andy Muirhead and flanker, Luke Reimer.
Muirhead has extended his time with the Brumbies to the end of 2025. He made the move to the Capital to play for John I Dent Cup club, Canberra Royals, later making his Super Rugby debut for the Brumbies in 2017. The then-23-year old earning his first cap off the bench in the Brumbies 19-10 win over the Kings at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth.
Since his debut in 2017, Muirhead has gone on to become senior figure of the playing group and a fan favourite, amassing 82 caps for the Brumbies.
A proud Indigenous man, Muirhead recently founded his own business, Yara. The business serves as a gateway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals to acquire training and career employment opportunities in the civil construction industry.
The Brumbies winger said, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my time with the Brumbies Family and wish to give back to my community that took me in as a young adult several years ago.”
“Entering my seventh season with the club, I feel that I have a lot to offer not only on the field, but off the field with many of our youngsters transitioning through the Academy.”
Brumbies flanker Reimer is excited to continue his career with ACT, extending his time till the end of the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific Season.
Reimer first made his Super Rugby debut in 2021 against the Western Force, after graduating from the Brumbies Pathways Program.
Playing out of the Western Districts Rugby Union Club, Reimer has gone on to make 33 appearances for the ACT Brumbies.
Reimer's strong pre-season showing has seen the flanker start for the ACT Brumbies in the opening three matches for the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific Competition.
The Brumbies backrower Reimer said, “I’m excited to continue my journey with the ACT Brumbies. I feel we're building something special here and I want to play a part in the club's future success."
“The Brumbies have looked after me and my development since I came down from Sydney, and I’ve really enjoyed my time so far, so it was an easy decision to stay.”
Brumbies Head Coach, Stephen Larkham said, “It is great that we are retaining a lot of our developed talent. It certainly builds continuity within our playing group with Andy and Luke being an important part of the club's quest for a Super Rugby Pacific title.”
The Brumbies will host their first home fixture of the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific Competition this weekend. Taking on the Western Force at GIO Stadium on Saturday afternoon, kicking off at 2:35PM AEDT.
