Rugby Australia and the Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies are excited to announce centre Len Ikitau has committed his future to Australian Rugby, inking a new deal until the end of 2025.
Wallaby number 944, Ikitau made his Wallabies debut in the Wallabies victorious 2021 series against France on home soil and has gone on to represent his country on 26 occasions.
Remarkably, the 24-year-old has missed only one match since making his international debut, starting on all bar two occasions during his Test career so far.
Ikitau joined the ACT Brumbies pathways program after graduating from Brisbane Boys College in 2016 and was a standout in the John I Dent Cup for Tuggeranong Vikings, before also making an impact for the Canberra side in the National Rugby Championship.
He made his Super Rugby debut in 2019 before a breakout season in 2021 where he locked down the outside centre position under Dan McKellar.
A former Australian Under 20s representative, Ikitau has developed a reputation for his quick feet, hard-hitting defence and ability to find the try-line. He also celebrated his re-signing this week with the birth of his first child Lennox with partner Sammie.
Wallabies and Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies centre Len Ikitau, said: “I’m grateful to be able to continue playing my Rugby here in Australia.”
“The Brumbies gave me an opportunity out of school when nobody else did and there’s nowhere I’d rather be at this point in my career.
“There’s a lot to look forward to over the next couple of years with the Wallabies and I’m focused on continuing to play my best so I can continue to earn those opportunities.”
Wallabies head coach Eddie Jones said: “Len has the potential to become a high-class Test centre and to have him re-sign with Australian Rugby is outstanding."
“He’s been in great form for the Brumbies and we’ll continue to watch him closely throughout the Super Rugby season.”
Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies head coach, Stephen Larkham said: “Retaining Len was always going to be really important for us as a club and we’re really happy he’ll be staying with us for at least another couple of years.”
“Traditionally a lot of players move on after a World Cup so for us to have already secured the likes of Allan, Bobby, Frosty, the Lonergans and now Len is really pleasing and it says a lot about how those boys feel about our environment here at the Brumbies.”
