The Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies hosted their annual Women in Business, Leadership & Sport Luncheon, presented by Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers at Hotel Realm, Barton last Friday afternoon.
Hosted by retired Canberra United and Matilda star, now Channel 10 football commentator Grace Gill-McGrath, the luncheon serves as opportunity to celebrate women in sport. The afternoon also provides a platform for attendees to network and raise awareness and support for athletes and staff in the sporting industry.
The event proceeded with ACT Brumbies Deputy Chief Executive Craig Leseberg acknowledging the service and dedication by Robyn Duff (ACT Brumbies Development Player Manager) and Kylie Kook (ACT Brumbies Womens Academy Head Physio) to rugby union in the ACT region.
Duff, whose role is responsible for providing education and wellbeing support for Super Rugby player's at the Brumbies, recently spent time with rookies Austin Anderson and Lachlan Shaw at the annual 2023 RUPA Induction Camp.
Our AV suppliers for the event EventAV Services were on hand to entertain guests with music through the afternoon.
A range of live and silent auctions took place throughout the luncheon raising valuable funds which directly support ACT & Southern NSW Rugby Union female led rugby programs such as academy, school girls, youth and the regions women's rugby union team - ACT Brumbies (Super W).
The event concluded with the showpiece of the afternoon, with a 4-person panel consisting of Alana Gattinger (ACT Brumbies Super Rugby Team Manager), Carly Wilson (Former WNBL Star, Foxsports Commentator), Tania Naden (ACT Brumbies Super W & Wallaroos Player) and Vanessa Low (Paralympian Gold Medalist & World Record Holder).
The quartet engaged the audience, detailing their successes and challenges throughout their personal journeys navigating through professional sport. Inspiring attendees from diverse backgrounds in the corporate world, the event closed with an applause for the panelists who parted with words of wisdom for the 200+ guests at Hotel Realm, Barton.
