The Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies will run out in specially created Kids Round jerseys against the Fijian Drua at GIO Stadium on Friday night (kick-off 7.35pm).

The jerseys (and shorts) were designed by children and families of children who are oncology patients and supported by Win The Day. Win The Day is an Australian-based, not-for-profit charity, that aims to support families who are dealing with a rare childhood cancer diagnosis.

The 23 playing jerseys will be auctioned off next week, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Win The Day founder Kristy Giteau was delighted to be able to collaborate with the Brumbies on such a special cause for her and her family – her daughter Ka’ili suffers from a rare type of cancer.

“We’re a relatively new charity having started in 2020 and we are very grassroots and local, so having a partnership with the Brumbies this year means that we can continue to grow awareness if someone does get a fresh childhood diagnosis of cancer,” Giteau said.

“This is everything for our charity. The exposure that it's going to get means that it's one more family that might hear about the services that we provide.”

For the jersey and shorts for our Round 5 fixture, all our sponsors’ logos have been redesigned by the children.

Win The Day supports families who have received a diagnosis of rare cancer in three areas: accommodation, meal assistance, and emotional support.

Prop Blake Schoupp stressed the significance for the playing group of being involved in a project like this.

“It’s hugely important for the Brumbies to be involved in causes like this. At the Brumbies we pride ourselves on supporting families in need and this charity does that with children with rare forms of cancer.

“We want to raise awareness of Win The Day and give children opportunities that we usually wouldn’t have, no matter what their circumstances are. It’s awesome to spend time with these children and hear their stories.

“Many of the kids have got one up on me and the boys with the drawings. Hopefully we can do them proud on Friday,”
