Saturday night’s 32-3 bonus point victory over the Rebels capped off a massive three weeks for the Plus500 Brumbies in which they took 14 of the possible 15 points on offer and locked in a finals birth. The Brumbies’ showed no signs of fatigue upon their return to GIO Stadium after an epic around-the-world trip, keeping their eyes on the prize of a home finals fixture.

It was never going to be easy gaining a revenge win over the Rebels after suffering a tough loss to them earlier in the season, but the Brumbies over-came difficult conditions to make it three wins on the trot, scoring four well-taken tries in the process.

Club co-Captain Sam Carter couldn’t have been more proud of his team’s performance admitting that the club had been treating the Rebels fixture as a dangerous proposition.

“We had a big focus on this week being a danger week so we wanted to be really clinical in this game,” he said. “The boys really put in, they did everything they said they were going to do which is the most pleasing aspect for me.”

The bonus point win sees the Brumbies reach the Super Rugby finals for a fifth time in a row, which is a monumental effort for the club, especially after losing some key members of the 2016 squad at the commencement of the season.

Although the team will now go in separate directions as the Wallabies June Test Series commences, Carter insists that the focus on the last two rounds and the first week of finals will still be at the forefront of everyone’s minds, going into the June break.

“We’ll do a bit of recovery then have this June test window,” Carter said. “The other blokes who aren’t with the Wallabies will be working hard as well here, which is just the way we do things.“Our focus doesn’t change. We have to come together as a squad and we need to keep working on the things we have to work on to improve our game and that’s been our focus all year.”
