There will be a hint of nostalgia in the air on Saturday 8 April before the Plus500 Brumbies Australian Conference clash with Queensland rivals the Reds.
That’s because a plethora of Brumbies Legends will roll back the years in a clash against the Reds Barbarians in a retro-round match-up of epic proportions!
With a stack of your favourite Brumbies stars of yester-year set to pull on the Brumbies jersey once more, this match promises to be one not to miss. And with an exclusive ‘retro’ ticket offer for early General Admission a bumper crowd is likely to be in attendance.
Brumby number 6, and cult hero, Ipolito Fenukitau will line up alongside bona-fide legends such as lock John Langford, number eight Tamaiti Horua, back-row Jone Tawake, scrum-half Matt Henjak and superstar Andrew Walker.
Walker, who was a part of the Brumbies team that took part in the Brisbane Global Tens, will feature form full-back, whilst there will be the rather unusual sight of ex-hooker Jeremy Paul, a multi-capped Wallaby international in the front-row, pulling the strings from fly-half.
With the potential of Brumbies Head Coach Stephen Larkham and Assistant Coach Peter Ryan coming off the bench, the game offers fans’ the chance to see some of their old favourites back in action.
The Reds Barbarians will be skippered by former Red, and local rugby player, Ben Coutts and will feature players locally and from interstate.A feast of rugby commences at 5pm the same day as the ACT Vets take on the Royal Navy Old Salts in their annual Paladin Cup charity clash. The Plus500 Brumbies will meet the Reds in the Super Rugby competition with the game commencing at 7.45pm.
General Admission Adult prices at the gate will be only $20 from gates opening at 5pm until 6pm at which time normal Brumbies ticket prices will be in operation. Make sure you come early and see a trio of cracking matches for only $20!
