Corey Toole is used to outrunning everyone. This time, though, Brumbies fans can relax because the Wallaby flyer isn't going anywhere, putting pen to paper on a new deal through to 2028.

One of the most electrifying finishers in world rugby, Toole’s rise has been built on blistering pace, relentless work ethic, a cheeky kicking game, and a penchant for producing moments that leave defenders clutching at thin air.

From Wagga Wagga to a Wallaby, Toole’s journey has been anything but ordinary.

After moving to Canberra and progressing through the ACT Brumbies Academy, his speed quickly caught the attention of the Australia Sevens program. In his first World Series campaign, Toole crossed for an astonishing 43 tries to finish as the competition’s leading try-scorer and help Australia claim its first-ever World Rugby Sevens Series title.

After selections for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup Sevens, the flyer returned to the XV-man game and made his Super Rugby Pacific debut for the Brumbies in 2023.

Since then, the ‘Toole box’ has established himself as one of the competition’s most dangerous attacking weapons. Whether chasing kicks, finishing in the corner or turning half-chances into long-range tries, his acceleration has become a trademark of the Brumbies attack.

A return to the Sevens program for the Paris Olympics in 2024 put him on the world stage before a breakout 2025 campaign elevated him to the Wallabies squad during the British & Irish Lions series.

When his Test debut finally arrived against South Africa in Cape Town, it took just one touch for Toole to announce himself on the international stage, scoring a trademark try that showcased exactly why he is regarded as one of the fastest players in world rugby.

Now six Tests into his Wallabies career, the 27-year-old says Canberra remains the perfect place to continue his development.

“I’m incredibly excited to extend my time with the Brumbies and Rugby Australia. Canberra certainly felt like home since the day I arrived and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be developing my game right now.

“Working alongside world-class coaches and playing with this group makes coming to work every day special.

“We have a driving ambition to deliver success for our loyal supporters in the ACT and I’m fully focused on contributing to that while continuing to push for higher honours in the gold jersey.”

ACT Brumbies head coach Stephen Larkham believes the best is still to come.

“We’re very pleased that Corey will be staying in the ACT with the Brumbies.

“His pace and skillset make him a genuine gamebreaker for our side, while his character and personality around the group are a terrific example of what it means to be a Brumbies player.

“Corey has already shown enormous potential at Super Rugby level, and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue to grow and evolve over the next two seasons.”

Rugby Australia Director of High Performance Peter Horne said retaining a player of Toole’s calibre was an important outcome for Australian rugby.

“Corey’s re-commitment is a great result for Australian Rugby.

“His speed makes him a rare talent, who progressed through the Australian Rugby pathways, tasted World Series success, and represented Australia at the Olympics before transitioning into Super Rugby Pacific and the Wallabies.

“Retaining homegrown players like Corey is crucial for the depth and future success of our national programs as we build towards next year and beyond.”

For Brumbies fans, rest assured the fastest man in Australian rugby isn't slowing down anytime soon. And with Toole locked in until 2028, there should be plenty more footraces ending the same way, with Corey Toole disappearing over the tryline.
