Brumbies gallop to bonus point win over the Reds

The Plus500 Brumbies have demolished the Reds’ in Canberra, cruising to a 43 to 10 victory at GIO Stadium.

The convincing bonus point win by the boys from the capital gives the team breathing space at the top of the Australian Conference ladder as they go 8 points clear from second.

The Reds’ took the lead early as Chris Kuridrani split the Brumbies’ defence in half, running a brilliant line to score next to the posts in the 7th minute. Scrumhalf James Tuttle had no issues adding the extras to push his team out to a 7-0 advantage.

The Brumbies then made the most of their first visit into the Reds’ 22. Flyhalf Wharenui Hawera making no mistake and reducing the deficit to four points, slotting a penalty kick from in front.

Tevita Kuridrani capped off a great period for the Brumbies, barging over form close range to give his team a taste of the lead for the first time in the 27th minute.

Hawera had no issues converting the try, making it two from two for the Flyhalf and giving his side a 10-7 advantage.

The visitors opted to level the scores going into half time through Tuttle’s successful penalty kick, making the half time score 10 all.

The Brumbies’ came out firing in the second half, wasting no time as they added to their half time score with two tries in the opening four minutes.

Robbie Abel crossed first off the back of a rolling mall before Aiden Toua backed up a superb run by Alan Alaalatoa to cross under the black dot shortly after.=Jarrad Butler made his 50th game one to remember making the most of monstrous effort by the his forward pack in the 53rd minute.

The Brumbies’ made light work of the Reds’ scrum, pushing the visitors back over their own try line to give Butler his first for the season. Hawera added the extras to give the side a 31 to 10 point lead over the men in red.

James Dargaville came on as a blood bin replacement and for Henry Speight and didn’t take long for him to make an impact on the game.

The winger pierced through a hole to blow the score out to 26 point lead, which soon became a 28 point lead as Hawera continued his golden night with the boot.

Chris Alcock added a cherry on top for the hosts, crossing for his second try in as many games as the full-time siren blew, the Brumbies coming away with a convincing 43-10 win.
