11 Brumbies selected in Wallabies squad for Nations Championship

11 ACT Brumbies have been selected in the 37-player Wallabies squad for next month's Nations Championship Tests on home soil, with uncapped duo Declan Meredith and Lachlan Shaw in line to make their Test debuts.

Tickets to the Wallabies 2026 home Tests are available to purchase here.

The squad, made up of 20 forwards and 17 backs, will assemble in Sydney on Wednesday ahead of their sold-out opening Test of 2026 against Ireland at Allianz Stadium on Saturday, July 4. They will then travel to Brisbane to face France at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, July 11, before taking on Italy at Perth's HBF Park on Saturday, July 18.

Meredith, 26, earns his first Wallabies call-up after an outstanding season steering the ACT Brumbies from flyhalf. The Cairns product played his junior rugby with the Barron Trinity Bulls before relocating to Canberra to pursue his professional career.

Shaw, 23, also receives his maiden selection after cementing himself as a cornerstone of the Brumbies' forward pack throughout 2026. The 200cm lock came through the Brisbane rugby system, represented the Junior Wallabies in 2023 and has developed into one of the competition's premier lineout operators since arriving in Canberra.

UK-based Len Ikitau has also retained his place in the Wallabies squad following an outstanding campaign with the Exeter Chiefs and is set to feature in this weekend's Gallagher Premiership Final. He will return to the Brumbies ahead of the 2027 season.

Veteran prop James Slipper, the Wallabies' most-capped Test player, has also been selected as he eyes a return from international retirement. Fullback Tom Wright returns after missing the closing stages of last year's campaign through injury, while Allan Alaalatoa, Charlie Cale, Billy Pollard, Rob Valetini, Ryan Lonergan and Corey Toole complete the Brumbies contingent.

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt said:

"There have been ongoing discussions amongst the coaches for a number of months and, as always, there are some very good players who have not been selected for this first international window.

"We've settled on a group that we think will work hard and can perform well against three top-tier European teams with the added excitement of competing in the new Nations Championship for the first time."

Brumbies Head Coach Stephen Larkham said:

"It's a great reflection of the work that's been done across the whole program that we've had so many Brumbies selected in the Wallabies squad. The players have earned those opportunities through their performances and consistency throughout the season.

"Just as pleasing is the depth we've built within the group. There are a number of other Brumbies who are capable of stepping up and performing at that level if called upon. That's what you want as a club – genuine competition for spots and a program that continues to produce players ready for international rugby."
