Georgie Hayes
Small in stature, massive in confidence; Georgie Hayes plays with the kind of footwork that leaves defenders guessing and teammates buzzing.
Born in Mudgee and playing her rugby with the Wagga Waratahs after starting out at the Tumut Bullants, “Georgie” first picked up a rugby ball at just seven years old after early experiences in hockey and soccer. Since then, she’s developed into an exciting young playmaker whose speed, agility and skillset consistently trouble defenders well above her size.
Don’t let the 161cm frame fool you, Hayes has the ability to step through traffic, beat defenders one-on-one and completely shift momentum with her footwork. Loud, energetic and full of personality, she brings spark both on and off the field, often setting the tone for those around her. And when it’s game day? Expect dancing, noise and plenty of energy.
Still completing her Year 12 HSC studies, Hayes balances school life alongside her rugby commitments while continuing to grow as one of the region’s brightest young talents. Inspired by former Australian Sevens star Alicia Lucas, who she met in primary school, Hayes has carried that encouragement and support through her own rugby journey.
Away from the field, she enjoys waterskiing, touch football and spending weekends watching local footy with friends and family. One thing she hopes to do in the future is travel the world, though if you ask her, she’d probably rather spend hours talking first.
Heading into the 2026 season, Hayes shapes as an exciting young talent with serious upside; fearless and always ready to bring energy to the Brumbies environment.
