Few players embrace a challenge quite like Thalia Uilelea.
Known to teammates simply as "T", proud of her Wiradjuri and Samoan heritage, she has taken an unconventional path through rugby, transitioning from the backs into the second row and bringing a unique skill set with her. Her background outside the tight five has helped shape a mobile, athletic forward who is comfortable with ball in hand and willing to put in the hard work wherever the team needs her.
Born and raised in Canberra, Uilelea began her rugby journey with the Queanbeyan Whites before continuing her development with the ViQueens. While still relatively new to the Brumbies environment, she has quickly impressed coaches and teammates alike through her commitment, consistency and willingness to learn.
Whether it's at training or on game day, Thalia's work ethic stands out. She approaches every session with energy and determination, earning a reputation as a player who is always prepared to do the tough, often unnoticed work that helps a team succeed. Her transition into the second row has highlighted her physicality, athleticism and growing confidence in the forward pack.
Away from rugby, Uilelea works as a public servant and enjoys expressing her creative side through art. Inspired by Brumbies and Wallaroos captain Siokapesi Palu Sekona, she admires the leadership and relentless work rate that have made Pesi one of the most respected figures in Australian rugby.
Her perfect day off is simple: 12 hours of sleep, an ocean swim, an iced caramel latte and a trip to get her nails done. One day she'd also love to visit Japan, while spending time with friends remains one of her favourite ways to unwind.
Heading into the 2026 season, Uilelea continues to develop as an exciting second-row prospect; hardworking, coachable and determined to make her mark in Brumbies colours.
