Tenniah Papa

From the midfield to the front row, Tenniah May Papa has embraced every challenge rugby has thrown her way. 

Proudly representing her Aboriginal, Filipino, Samoan and Iranian heritage, Papa brings a unique blend of athleticism, determination and raw potential to the Brumbies pathway. Born in Rosemeadow, she first came to rugby after backgrounds in rugby league and netball, sports that helped shape the footwork, competitiveness and physicality she still brings to her game today. 

Interestingly, Papa's rugby journey began in the backs as a centre before transitioning to prop - a move that has proven to be a perfect fit. While the positions couldn't be more different, her experience in the wider channels has contributed to her mobility and ball skills around the field, complementing the strength and physical presence required in the front row. 

Representing the Gungahlin Eagles after beginning her rugby journey with Eastern Suburbs, Tenniah has earned a reputation as a player with enormous upside. Coaches and teammates consistently point to her work ethic and willingness to learn as key reasons for her rapid development, with the aspiring front-rower continuing to grow her game season after season. 

Away from rugby, Papa serves in the Australian Defence Force, balancing the demands of military service with her rugby commitments. That discipline and resilience are reflected in the way she approaches her training and development, always looking for ways to improve and challenge herself. 

When she's not on the field, Tenniah enjoys trying new experiences and making the most of opportunities that come her way. Her ideal day off is simple; plenty of sleep, recovery and recharging before attacking the next challenge. One trip she would love to tick off in the future is experiencing New York during the Christmas season. 

Heading into the 2026 season, Papa continues to develop into an exciting front-row prospect; hardworking, coachable and driven to turn her considerable potential into consistent performances.
