Sam Carter is an inspirational leader and remains one of the premier locks in Australia.Injury frustrated Carter at times last season, but the Co-Captain’s influence on this young squad is perhaps more important than tackles and carries. Carter, alongside Christian Lealiifano, are the embodiment of the ethos of the spirit of the Brumbies.

The son of former Wallaby David Carter, Sam attended rugby nursery the Scots College in Sydney before going on to represent Sydney University in the Shute Shield until the end of 2010.The 29-year old made his debut for the Brumbies in 2011 against the Melbourne Rebels and has gone from strength to strength, making 105 appearances for the side in seven seasons.

Known for his impressive work rate and strong set piece ability, Carter is a general at the lineout and always gives his prop’s good support in the scrum.

Carter made his debut for the Wallabies in 2014 against France at Suncorp Stadium and has gone on to make 16 appearances for his country including being a part of the Wallabies 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign. In 2018, Carter cemented his place in Brumbies folklore, becoming just the twelfth player to make 100 appearances for the club.

There’s just one thing missing from Carter’s wish list, a Super Rugby medal. He’ll be back on that quest in 2019.
