When the clock’s red, lungs are burning and everyone else is hanging on, Luke Reimer goes hunting — circling the breakdown, waiting for the one moment that will decide it all.

A Wallabies representative and Brumbies backrow enforcer, Reimer was raised in Killara, New South Wales, playing his junior rugby with Lindfield. His appetite for the contest was evident early, earning Australian Schoolboys honours and the Bronze Boot award in 2018 — recognition of a relentless competitor who thrives around the ball.

That edge carried him into the Brumbies pathway program and down to Canberra, where he sharpened his craft with the Wests Lions in the John I Dent Cup. His Super Rugby debut came in the 2021 Super Rugby AU semi-final against the Western Force — and he wasted no time. Fresh off the bench, Reimer swooped for a decisive breakdown steal to secure the win, instantly stamping himself as a man for the moment.

Since then, he has built a reputation as one of Super Rugby’s premier “closers.” Whether it’s ripping the ball free in the dying seconds or refusing to concede an inch on the line, Reimer delivers when others are running on fumes. His most famous act came in 2023, holding up Ardie Savea over the try line to seal a dramatic quarter-final victory for the Brumbies.

In 2024, he earned his Wallabies debut against the Springboks in Brisbane — another milestone for a player whose specialty is getting over the ball and forcing crucial turnovers when everyone else thinks the game is already done.

Heading into the 2026 season, Reimer remains the Brumbies’ ultimate closer — fearless, relentless and ready to strike when it matters most.
