Six-foot-plus of lineout menace with a passport full of stamps — Lachie Shaw is climbing fast.

Born in Brisbane and educated at Brisbane Boys’ College, Shaw’s rugby foundations were laid in one of the country’s strongest school systems. After graduating, he continued his development with Queensland University before backing himself with a move south to chase an opportunity in the Brumbies Academy.

In the ACT, he pulled on the colours of the Gungahlin Eagles, quickly making his mark in local rugby and earning selection in the Junior Wallabies in 2023 — a nod to both his athletic upside and growing rugby IQ.

His progression continued in 2024 when the lock was elevated to the Brumbies squad, making his Super Rugby debut against the Western Force in front of a home crowd at GIO Stadium. Later that year, Shaw broadened his experience across the Tasman, representing Manawatu Turbos in New Zealand’s NPC — adding steel and game time against seasoned opposition to his résumé.

At just 21, the second rower combines lineout presence with mobility around the park, bringing energy in the tight and work rate in the loose.

Heading into the 2026 season, Shaw stands as one of the Brumbies’ emerging engines in the second row — athletic, ambitious, and building toward a bright future in the tight five.
