Work rate through the roof and never out of the contest, Jess Grant is the kind of player who keeps turning up when others are running out of legs.
Originally from New South Wales, Grant began her rugby journey at 17 with the Kempsey Cannonballs after coming from a background in competitive swimming, where she competed at a national level. Since making the switch, she has developed into a tireless and physical presence on the field, known for her relentless defensive efforts, cover tackles and ability to pilfer crucial turnovers over the ball.
Playing her club rugby with Uni-North Owls, Grant brings toughness and consistency across every minute she’s on the field. Whether chasing down attackers in cover defence or fighting over the breakdown, her work ethic has become one of the defining strengths of her game.
Grant earned Brumbies cap #78 when she debuted in 2023 against Fijiana Drua in Fiji, continuing her rise within the program while balancing rugby alongside her career as a radiographer. Like many within the women’s game, she combines elite sport with full-time work; something that reflects both her discipline and commitment to rugby.
Away from the field, Grant is a huge Formula 1 fan and enjoys spending downtime either by the beach or pool whenever the weather is warm.
Heading into the 2026 season, Grant remains one of the Brumbies’ hardest-working players; dependable, physical and always willing to put her body on the line for the team.
