From missionary work to the Romanian Rumbler — David Feliuai’s road to the Brumbies is anything but ordinary.

After joining the club ahead of the 2025 season following the Melbourne Rebels’ off-season changes, Feliuai quickly made his mark in Canberra. He made his competitive debut for the Brumbies against the Blues in March 2025, announcing himself in new colours with the same physical edge and composure that had defined his rise.

Born in Auckland and raised in Brisbane, he came through the ranks at Sunnybank, where his powerful running game first took shape. But his path wasn’t linear. Straight out of school, Feliuai stepped away from rugby to complete a two-year Mormon mission in Fiji — an experience that sharpened his discipline and resilience.

Returning to Australia in 2019, he tested himself at an International NFL combine on the Gold Coast. When that opportunity didn’t stick, he pivoted again — signing a three-year deal with Baia Mare in Romania’s Liga de Rugby Kaufland. There, his bruising style and relentless carries earned him the nickname “the Romanian Rumbler.” Romania were eager for him to represent their national side, but Feliuai’s ambition was always fixed on the green and gold.

Back home in 2022 with the Melbourne Rebels, he pieced together two stellar seasons that showcased his evolution into a complete, all-round centre. His form was strong enough to catch the attention of Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt, earning him his first national call-up at the end of the 2025 season.

Heading into the 2026 season, Feliuai stands as a powerful presence in the Brumbies midfield — battle-hardened, worldly, and driven by a journey that’s taken the long road to the top.
