Connal McInerney might still be floating on air after the year he had in 2018. Drafted in as injury cover when Josh Mann-Rea went down for the season, McInerney joined the Brumbies squad having moved to Sydney mere months before. When the call came from Dan McKellar, even McInerney couldn’t believe it.
Then, when the Brumbies rake-stocks demanded it, McInerney made his Super Rugby debut, coming off the bench against the Sharks. McInerney stuck around the Capital as a member of the squad, playing for Easts in the Shute Shield when not required by the Brumbies. The Royals product regained a spot in the matchday selection when the Brumbies were on tour in South Africa.
When they returned from that tour, McInerney was called on to start his first game against the Sunwolves at GIO Stadium. An incredible journey, McInerney’s dedication and never-give-up attitude means he’ll be in the Brumbies squad this year, a bonified Super Rugby player.
