Charlie Cale is a spark with studs on — a back-row firebrand who plays on instinct, hunts contact, and has the skillset to ignite a game in an instant.

Originally from Sydney, Charlie came through The King’s School and Sydney City U19s, where his competitive edge set him apart early. That same spark drew him to Canberra on an Elite Development Squad contract, backing himself against the pace and physicality of Super Rugby.

A destructive and opportunistic back-rower, Cale announced himself in the John I Dent Cup by finishing as Uni-Norths Owls’ leading try-scorer in 2022, earning promotion to the Brumbies’ top squad that same year. After debuting in 2023, he exploded onto the 2024 season with a Round 1 double away in Melbourne—headlined by a daring chip-and-chase that claimed Brumbies Try of the Year. His rise culminated with a Wallabies call-up, making his Test debut against Wales at Allianz Stadium in July.

Heading into the 2026 season, Cale brings aggression and split-second instinct to the Brumbies. Always playing on the front foot, he thrives in the heat of the contest and will look to impact momentum for the men in white, blue and yellow.
