Austin Anderson

Austin is an exciting, young utility back who brings a strong grounding in New Zealand rugby to the ACT Brumbies. 

Born and raised in Waikato, Anderson developed his game in one of the sport’s traditional heartlands, earning his stripes in the NPC for his home region and building a reputation for his toughness, skill and composure in the midfield. 

After making the move across the ditch, Anderson quickly adapted to Australian conditions and impressed in Canberra’s John I Dent Cup. A standout 2024 season with the Wests Lions showcased his ability to control space, carry strongly and defend with intent, firmly pressing his case for a Super Rugby Pacific debut in 2025. His progression through the ranks has marked him as a player with genuine upside. 

Looking ahead to the 2026 season, Anderson shapes as a young gun to watch, with his focus on cementing his place at Super Rugby level and continuing his development in the Brumbies system. He looms as an exciting prospect for fans and a valuable option across the club’s backline moving forward.
