Blink and Bisho’s already gone! Give Ashlea Bishop half a gap or a loose pass and she’ll take it the length of the field.

Born and raised in the Canberra region, Bishop began her rugby journey with the Broulee Dolphins before making her mark with Canberra Royals. A former tennis player, she brings elite footwork, sharp instincts and serious pace into her game, becoming a constant threat across the back three. Whether she’s lining up at fullback or on the wing, Bishop’s kicking game, acceleration and ability to read play make her one of the Brumbies’ most dangerous counter-attacking weapons.

And if there’s an intercept opportunity? She’s taking it. Just ask the Western Force after she burned them the length of the field in 2024.

Known to most simply as “Bisho,” she made her Brumbies debut in 2021 against the Rebels in Coffs Harbour, earning cap number 68 and continuing her rise within the program. Off the field, she balances rugby with full-time work as a physiotherapist; another example of the commitment required within the women’s game.

Away from rugby, Bisho loves the outdoors, whether it’s surfing, paddleboarding or catching up with friends over coffee. Inspired by world champion surfer Molly Picklum and her authenticity, she brings the same relaxed confidence into her own sport. Her ideal rest day starts with coffee on the deck, a walk with the dog and time in the ocean, while one thing still high on the bucket list is diving with sharks.

Heading into the 2026 season, Bishop remains one of the Brumbies’ most exciting outside backs; instinctive, quick-footed and always just one intercept away from lighting up the game.
