Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies centre David Feliuai has put pen to paper on a new deal that keeps him at the club until the end of 2027.

Born in Auckland but raised in Brisbane, Feliuai, 27, arrived in the nation’s capital before the start of our pre-season campaign.

Despite an interrupted season so far, he has made four Super Rugby appearances for the Brumbies, making his competitive debut in the 21-20 win over the Blues at Eden Park last month.

And Feliuai was excited to lock in another two seasons for the Brumbies in his quest to win a Super Rugby Pacific title with the club.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time in Canberra so far and I’m over the moon to secure another two years at the club,” Feliuai said.

“The players and staff have been extremely welcoming and helped me settle in straight away. I’m very grateful that the Brumbies gave me the opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting my head down and putting together a run of games for the club.”

The Auckland-born centre climbed up the Queensland Premier Rugby competition with Sunnybank Dragons in his youth, following in the footsteps of the likes of Digby Ioane, former Brumby David Giffin and current teammate Feao Fotuaika.

In 2019, Feliuai signed a deal to join Romanian club Baia Mare, where he had a three-year stint before making his way back to Australia to play for the Melbourne Rebels.

The outside back, known for his strong ball carries and offloading ability, had a breakout Super Rugby Pacific campaign in 2024 for the Rebels, making 12 appearances and catching the eye of national selectors. He was named in the Wallabies squad to take on Wales and Georgia in July last year, but didn’t make a matchday squad.

Head coach Stephen Larkham was very happy to keep Feliuai at the club for the foreseeable future.

“We’re delighted to sign David on for a further two years. The impact he’s had at the club on and off the pitch has been immense since he arrived,” Larkham said. “He’s been in and out of the team this season, but when he has played he’s done his job really well and helped us secured big wins. He’s a huge ball carrier for us in the back line and gets us on the front foot.

“We’re excited to see what he delivers in the coming seasons.”
