Brumbies Rugby are excited to announce backrower Charlie Cale has been promoted to the club’s Super Rugby Pacific squad after a stellar season with the Uni-Norths Owls in the Bentspoke John I Dent Cup.

Cale joined the Brumbies pathways program in September last year, and trained full-time with the club's Super Rugby Pacific squad during the 2022 campaign.

Born in Dubbo, The King's School product was a standout for Sydney City at U19 level, and is currently the top try scorer in the Bentspoke John I Dent Cup where he has showcased his unique ability with ball-in-hand.

Brumbies backrower, Charlie Cale said: "I’m so excited to be joining the squad.

"Being down here has been an awesome experience, I feel at home at the club and I’m grateful to be part of the special group of boys here.

"I’m fortunate to be in the best program in the country and to have so many good players in front of me to learn from so my focus now is on having a good preseason and soaking in as much knowledge as I can."

Brumbies head coach, Stephen Larkham said: “It’s exciting for us to add another excellent young talent to our group for 2023.”

“Charlie has been outstanding in club rugby, we’ve had some good conversations since I’ve been here and the message from all our coaches and performance staff here is that he’s a great fit for our environment.

“Charlie’s got real point of difference in his game, he’s great with ball in hand, top try scorer in the John I Dent Cup, he’s athletic, and with another full preseason ahead of him, he’s at a great stage in his development to hopefully earn the chance to play Super Rugby in a Brumbies jersey.”
