10 players from the Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies have been included in the Wallabies 36-player squad to assemble on Sunday ahead of the side’s first Test of 2025 against Fiji in Newcastle on July 6.
Uncapped Corey Toole, who scored two tries in last weekend's 37-17 Super Rugby Pacific semi-final defeat to the Chiefs, has been named, as well as versatile forward Tom Hooper, who had an outstanding year on the field for the Brumbies.
Aside from Toole Western Force back rower Nick Champion de Crespigny is the only other uncapped player.
Former player Darcy Swain also earns a recall to the Wallabies squad after strong form for the Western Force during the Super Rugby Pacific season, while most-capped Wallaby James Slipper remains on track to feature in back-to-back Lions Series.
As the Force will have their Wallaby players available for their fixture against the Lions next weekend, there will be seven players added to the wider group in their absence, including Brumbies Rory Scott, Ryan Lonergan and David Feliuai, as the team continue to prepare for the Test against Fiji.
Wallabies Head Coach Joe Schmidt said: “Selection is always tight and there’ll be players who are excited and those that are disappointed. As coaches there was a lot of healthy, robust discussion and we think we’ve selected a group that will work hard and connect well as a squad.”
“There’s some continuity from last year, plus a few new or returning players, who have forced their way into the mix through strong performances in Super Rugby Pacific.
“This squad’s immediate focus is Fiji, and we will need to hit the ground running having not been together since early January.”
