Stephen grew up in Nowra and attended Nowra High School where he represented NSW at schoolboy level in athletics, cricket and rugby league.
After working in Wollongong, Sydney and Brisbane in in the mid 80’s Stephen and his family moved to Canberra to take up an executive position with the Commonwealth Bank. Over the years Stephen has maintained an interest in sport and is a former Board member of Sports Medicine Australia (ACT), ACT Junior Rugby Union and Tuggeranong Valley Rugby Union Sports Club.
For the past 13 years Stephen has been an active Level 2 Sports Trainer and worked with various sporting teams, including Marist College 1st XV, ACT Junior Representative teams, Vikings Premier Division teams, ACT and Brumbies senior teams and more recently the Australian Federal Police and Australian Police Rugby teams.
At a professional level Stephen has held key executive positions with the Commonwealth Bank where he worked in various roles within the Commercial, Corporate and Institutional Banking areas. During this period Stephen had management responsibilities covering the areas of business development, deal origination and credit risk management.
In 1999, Stephen accepted a position to join Goldman Sachs JBWere as a Senior Equities Adviser, a position he occupied for 6 years before taking on the opportunity to establish the Macquarie Private Wealth office in Canberra.
From 2005 to 2015 Stephen held the position of ACT Head of Wealth Management.
After a 2-year break Stephen joined prominent national wealth management business, Shaw and Partners, where he currently occupies the position as Head of the Australian Capital Territory. Stephen is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Master Member of the Stockbrokers and Financial Advisers Association.
