The Brumbies tallest-timber had an excellent season in 2018 and was awarded as Brett Robinson Player of the Year. Joined in the capital by his twin brother Richie, Rory Arnold entered 2018 has the crown-jewel of a Brumbies lock-stock which boasted three Wallabies.
Arnold was heavily featured at set-piece, his tally of lineout wins was good enough for second in the Super Rugby standings and was his usual dynamic self with ball in hand. Brumbies fans won’t soon forget his try against the Reds at GIO Stadium, the galloping Arnold raced over from forty metres out to score perhaps the try of the year.
Arnold also topped the charts in dominant tackles, his aggression in the contact area certainly a point of difference for the 18-times capped Wallaby. A high tackle on tour in South Africa landed Arnold in some hot water, but he has improved his technique and was outstanding in the final few games of the year, particularly against the Hurricanes and Waratahs.
