Since joining the club as an academy prospect from Brisbane, Darcy Swain has long been earmarked as one of the next Brumbies stalwarts in the second-row.
The Babinda-born lock made 12 appearances in 2019, the latest step in his progression which saw him make his debut in 2018.
A captain at Junior level, and this season with the Canberra Vikings in the NRC, Swain has continued to grow both as a player and a leader and may see significantly more minutes in 2020.
The former Brumby U20 skipper is a prototypical Brumbies lock, in the Carter mould.
An excellent athlete, with the ability to take the ball into contact and defend like a backrow, Swain makes his money at set-piece, particularly at the lineout. At just 22 years of age, Swain still has time on his side as well, but 2020 may serve as the biggest year in his career to date.
