Born in a refugee camp in Uganda, Biola Dawa's journey to the Wallaroos has been nothing short of inspiring.

The ACT Brumbies winger moved to Wagga Wagga as a child after her family fled their native home due to rising violence in the region.

Dawa was a runner growing up before a brief stint playing AFL.

She transitioned to Rugby and was selected to play for University of Canberra at the 2018 AON Uni Sevens series.

From there the 23-year-old was selected for the ACT Brumbies in the Super Rugby Women's as a teenager and has been part of the program since, playing over 20 games as Brumbies player No.39.

Dawa became the first Sudanese player - male or female - in Australian Rugby to make their debut in July when she played against Fiji.

She remained in the Wallaroos' 2024 squad throughout the year and will eye off selection for the 2025 Rugby World Cup. Dawa works in the mental health sector away from Rugby.
