Round 2 of the Super Rugby Men's U16s and U19s competitions will kick off this weekend as the Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies sides taking on the Queensland Reds on Saturday the 5th of October at Viking Park.
The U19s claimed a dominant 53-23 win over the Western Force in Round 1 as they begun their Championship defence after a competition win in 2023.
After a strong win last weekend, the man at the helm Head Coach Daniel Hooper has made limited changes with just two additions to the starting side through Matt Hanley and Samson Tuqiri.
Meanwhile the U16s side fell to the Force in a one-point thriller after the ACT side would cross the white stripe in the final minute of the game.
Following their season opener, Head Coach Sean Debenham says he has a "great deal of belief" in his side and has taken plenty of positives from the match.
"What pleased me most was the character they displayed in the game and the ability to push past adversity, respond to the challenges set by the opposition, and compete right up until the final 30 seconds of the game," said Debenham.
"This will hold us in good stead for the coming games."
Making three changes to the starting side this week with Zander Lubiejewski, Tyran McCudden and Kevin Kamilo joining the starting XV, Debenham says he is confident ahead of the Reds face off.
"They proved last week that they have the capability to match bigger teams and play a physical style of football in passages, we just have to improve the consistency. Our speed out wide is a strength that we will continue to work on and look to use as well."
