The Safeguard ACT Brumbies have come away with a hard fought 22-19 win over the Western Force at GIO Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors grabbed the first points of the match inside 9 minutes when the Force threw an attacking line-out for flyhalf Ben Donaldson to latch onto. Hamish Stewart supporting him on his outside for the centre to dot down under the cross bar for a 0-7 lead.
Force forward Michael Wells would increase the visitors lead by a 14-point margin minutes later when he crash over.
Though it would be Brumbies Captain Ryan Lonergan who would get the home side back on track. Tamati Tua breaking free down the left touch line. Lonergan supporting on his inside to streak away untouched.
Noah Lolesio would knock over a penalty to close the gap to 8-14 before the halftime break.
The home side started the second half strong with early possession. No.8 Rob Valetini crashing over from close range. Lolesio knocking over the conversion for the Brumbies to take a 15-14 lead after 47 minutes.
ACT continued to roll through the middle, this time Billy Pollard crashing over to continue his side's positive start to the second half. The Brumbies building a healthy 22-14 lead with just over 20 minutes remaining in the game.
Western Force winger Harry Potter scored with 6 minutes remaining to give the away side a glimmer of hope.
Though it wasn't enough, with the ACT Brumbies holding on to 22-19 win in front of a strong Canberra crowd on Saturday afternoon at GIO Stadium.
