In news that will come as a massive relief for Wallabies fans, Brumbies captain Allan Alaalatoa is set for only a brief stint on the sidelines following sustaining a calf injury during his side's win over the Reds.

The Brumbies veteran and 66-capped Wallaby has enjoyed a strong season so far in 2025 - with many tipping him to be part of the Wallabies starting side against the British & Irish Lions later this year.

However, after going down in the 48th minute clutching his ankle, the prop left the field for the rest of the match, with fans concerned about the extent of his injury so close to the end of the Super Rugby season.

Alaalatoa infamously missed the 2023 Rugby World Cup following an Achilles injury; however, the Brumbies have provided an update on Monday afternoon, with scans revealing the injury was not as bad as initially suspected.

Alaalatoa has confirmed to have suffered a low-level calf strain, which will mean he will spend some time on the sidelines.

Allan Alaalatoa speaks to media at Captain Shout Cup media launch.

However, the prop could be back within "the next couple of weeks" - likely in time to feature in the Brumbies' finals run and in time for the start of the Lions series.

"The Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies can confirm that captain Allan Alaalatoa underwent a scan with Garran Medical Imaging on a lower leg injury this afternoon, after leaving the field during Saturday’s fixture against the Reds at GIO Stadium," the Brumbies confirmed in an official statement.

"The results of the scan are favourable and show a low-grade calf strain, which should have him return in the next couple of weeks."
