The Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies are excited to announce that six players have been selected in the Australia A squad to play Samoa on Monday, September 16.

Making their way into an Australian Representative XV squad for the first time in their career is Lily Bone, Martha Fua, Loretta Mailangi, Gabrielle Petersen.

The group have all enjoyed strong outings in their local rugby sides in 2024, with Petersen taking home the Bentspoke Premier 15s title with her Tuggeranong Vikings side. Meanwhile Fua and Mailangi would star for the Gungahlin Eagles, taking them to the competition Preliminary Final.

Bone also showed off her capabilities this season in France after making her way over for the World University Rugby Sevens Championships where the forward played a starring role for Australia.

Meanwhile Ashlea Bishop will add a wealth experience to the squad after training with the Wallaroos extensively in 2024 after another strong Super Rugby Women's season at fullback.

Jay Huriwai will also join the squad in her first playing opportunity since suffering a season-ending leg fracture in the 2024 Super Rugby Women's season. Offering plenty of Wallaroos experience, Huriwai will certainly be an impactful addition to the side.

Brumbies Head of Women's Rugby and Pathways James Erwin said: "the Australian A squad selections serve as a well earned recognition of the athletes hard work over the year, across both our Women’s Academy and their respective club campaigns." "

"I have no doubt that all six Brumbies representatives will provide significant impact in the program. I am excited to see their continued journey at the international level and am eager to see the experience they bring back to the Brumbies."
