Plus500 pledge significant ongoing contribution to bushfire relief

by Brumbies Media

The Brumbies naming rights sponsor Plus500 have pledged to donate $500 from every try and $500 from every conversion scored by the team during the 2020 Super Rugby season to bushfire relief.

Their incredible contribution comes as the Plus500 Brumbies form a partnership with fundraising facilitator GIVIT to help with the #WeAreOne campaign.

GIVIT matches generosity with genuine need and is the smart way to support communities impacted by the bushfires throughout our region.

Donations made via GIVIT provide critical and immediate support at the time of disaster as well as providing longer recovery support to re-establish homes and help communities recover.

GIVIT has established a Plus500 Brumbies donation page that is an easy, quick and efficient way of donating directly to people in need without overwhelming Councils and charities on the ground.

GIVIT will also have volunteers at GIO Stadium should members and fans wish to donate in person during the Plus500 Brumbies first home match this Friday the 31st of January against the Reds commencing at 7:15pm.

The Plus500 Brumbies will be providing free entry to all ESA personnel for Friday evenings match as a small token of appreciation to those who have given so much during the ongoing catastrophic bushfire events affecting the ACT and surrounding regions of NSW and Australia.

A minute's silence will also be held prior to kick-off to pay respect to those who have tragically lost their lives during the current bushfire season.

This will involve the Brumbies, Reds and other Canberra sporting teams who are part of the #WeAreOne campaign, along with ESA personnel.

GIVIT CEO, Sarah Tennant said: “Once again the Brumbies have stepped up to help those in need. GIVIT is extremely grateful for their ongoing support allowing GIVIT to provide exactly what’s needed to communities, families and individuals impacted by the devastating bushfires."

"100% of funds received are used to purchase essential items, wherever possible, from local providers to support the business community as it also recovers.”

Plus500 CEO, Sean Murphy said: “Plus500 are very grateful to be given the opportunity to give back to those who have been affected by the bushfires. The Brumbies have always stood for community and mateship and now with the help of GIVIT we are able to uphold these values and play a small part in supporting the members of the community at a time when they need it most. We’re looking forward to a very successful 2020 Super Rugby season - both on the pitch and off.”

Plus500 Brumbies CEO, Phil Thomson said: “The Plus500 Brumbies are proud to partner with GIVIT to provide much needed funding towards the purchase of essential support items for those affected by the devastating bushfires that have been impacting both the rugby and the broader community of the ACT and surrounding regions of Southern NSW.

"We would also like to thank Plus500 for their enormously generous contribution to our #WeAreOne campaign and are proud to be have them as part of the Brumbies family.”
