The Plus500 Brumbies have announced a profit for the third consecutive year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held this evening at Brumbies HQ.

The franchise announced a $63,344 profit, up over 10% on the figure from last year, which continues to demonstrate the Brumbies’ financial stability.

On the field, the Plus500 Brumbies enjoyed success, winning its fourth Australian Conference Championship and returned to the Super Rugby Semi-Finals for the tenth time.

The club also secured its head coach Dan McKellar and assistants Laurie Fisher and Peter Hewat to long term contracts, ensuring continuity within the team’s leadership and direction in the years ahead.

The Brumbies Super W side enjoyed its first Semi-Final appearance, with 16 players making their debuts.  Shellie Milward and Michaela Leonard represented the Wallaroos on the international stage.

Player participation continued to grow in 2019, with the number of senior registered players (male and female) participating in the ACT and Southern NSW region increasing by 524 (19.3%).

This was coupled by a significant increase in our school programs with Touch 7s participation up 32% and ‘Get Into Rugby’ reaching 8,329 primary school children in the region.

There was also a positive uplift in Community coaches from 566 to 610 in 2019 and a 10% growth in the number of referees in the region.

Chairman Matt Nobbs was the only Board Director up for re-election and has been reinstated for a further two-year term adding to the stability of the organisation.

“2019 has been a successful year for the organisation with great results on and off the field,” Chief Executive Office Phil Thomson said.

“Being able to post a profit for the third year in a row is really pleasing and a testament to the stability and hard work by everyone within the organisation.

“The increase in community participation and growth is again great news with our connection to the region, these people are the backbone of the Brumbies.

“We are also delighted to have Matt Nobbs continue as Chairman and lead the Board in 2020.”

The Plus500 Brumbies kick off their 2020 Super Rugby campaign against the Queensland Reds on Friday the 31st of January at GIO Stadium.
