The final round of the Griffin Legal John I Dent Cup competition takes place this weekend and a plethora of Plus500 Brumbies stars will, once more, be donning their club’s colours in the battle for local glory.
Leading the list is the debut of Wallabies Number 8 Pete Samu for Easts, as the men from Griffith aim to knock the Gungahlin Eagles off their perch.
Samu, who joined the Brumbies at the beginning of the 2019 season, will be joined in the Easts line-up by lock Blake Enever and winger Toni Pulu, with the speedster out to emulate the sensational try he notched in the Round 16 match at David Campese Oval against the Queanbeyan Whites.
Intriguingly, Pulu may well line-up opposite fellow Brumby Henry Speight, who is included in the Eagles squad with the side from Gungahlin preparing for their bash at finals football, and in with a chance of perhaps, of claiming the overall number one spot should results go their way.
Meanwhile, Brumbies backs Irae Simone, for the Uni-Norths Owls, and Tom Wright, for Wests, will go head-to-head when their respective teams meet at Jamison Oval with Rob Valetini also in line to pull on a Wests jumper.
The big clash at Viking Park, which will also have a major bearing on the Premiership, sees Tuggeranong Vikings meet Canberra Royals and there will be a number of Brumbies stars competing in front of the BarTV Sports cameras.
Backs Ryan Lonergan, Noah Lolesio and Len Ikitau are in line for a start in Vikings colours with Darcy Swain and Vunipola Fifita likely to be selected up front.
In the blue corner, hooker Connal McInerney and wing Andy Muirhead, will be looking to help Royals to the top spot, with only a win likely to suffice.
