The Plus500 Brumbies Community Team has expanded to include two new Development Officers as the club continues to help expand the game in Canberra and the surrounding region.
Samantha Maxwell has been appointed as Brumbies Development Officer – ACT, with a focus on Primary Schools whilst Luke Kimber takes on the role of Brumbies Development Officer – ACT, with a focus on High School and Colleges.
Maxwell, who has an indigenous background, is the first full-time Women’s Development Officer at the Brumbies and has extensive playing experience having been an ACT representative at both fifteens and sevens through her earlier playing career.
She won a Youth Girls Australian Commonwealth Games Gold Medal in 2015 and is currently studying at the University of Canberra having been originally from Cootamundra.
Maxwell came through the Brumbies Internship Program to take up her current role.
Kimber meanwhile will be a familiar face to followers of the Griffin Legal John I Dent Cup having played first grade for current champions Royals.
He also has experience of the shorter version of the game having been a Brumbies Sevens player in the past.
Like Maxwell, Kimber, who is from Coolum Beach in Queensland studied at the University of Canberra and, again, was a part of the Brumbies Internship Program before commencing in his current position.
“We are delighted to welcome Sammy and Luke into their respective positions with us here at the Brumbies,” Craig Leseberg, General Manager – Community Rugby commented.
“Both have joined an expanded Community Development Team which will enable us to continue to grow our focus on participation throughout the capital and the surrounding regions.
“I am very pleased to have two young, dynamic, development officers in place who, along with the rest of the department, continue to do fantastic work in making rugby a game for all.”
