The Brumbies Provincial side will take on a high-flying NSW Country side at Viking Park on Saturday afternoon, the two sides looking to take bragging rights for 2017.
The teams will meet for the third year in a row this weekend with NSW Country having won the previous two clashes after falling to the ACT Griffins in 2014.
The Brumbies side was selected following last weekend’s representative match between SIRU and South Coast/Monaro, the SIRU team taking an excellent 41-13 win.
Flyhalf James Devlin of SIRU, and backrower Ash Kenny from South Coast/Monaro, were named players of the match and both will take the field for the Brumbies Provincial side on Saturday.
Both men will play important roles in the Brumbies side, leading the backs and forwards respectively for the big clash.
Six players from last year’s side will return, Brumbies Provincial Head Coach Richard Skellern banking on a largely inexperienced side to do the job against a tough Country outfit.
NSW Country enter the game full of confidence after a 40-7 victory over NSW Subbies last weekend.
NRC veteran Pauli Tuala will start at Openside Flanker and the Brumbies side will need to be wary of the threat he possesses carrying the ball and at the breakdown.
The match will be played at 5:30pm following the conclusion of the Tuggeranong Vikings and Easts 1st Grade clash at Viking Park.= BRUMBIES PROVINCIAL SIDE TO FACE NSW COUNTRY
