Henry Speight is asking for donations up to $10K to shave his head for cancer.

After growing his hair for almost two years, Brumbies and Wallabies winger Henry Speight has become as well known for his impressive afro as he is for his prowess on the rugby field.

Henry originally set his target for the head shave at $10,000 but it soon became apparent he had underestimated his support crew and now stands on the cusp of $21k.

A new target has been set, with the Fijian flyer eyeing off $30,000 by the end of next week. But the time has come and, in the name of charity, Henry has decided that ‘the fro must go’.

Henry is a supporter of the Walk On, Walk Strong (WOWS) Foundation, a charity in his home country which supports children with cancer and their families.

Henry was only eight years old when he lost a very close family member to cancer and he understands the need for support during such a difficult time.

“Anything to do with cancer has always been close to me and I’m blessed to be in a position that I can raise some awareness,” he said.

As a deal sweetener for Henry’s greatest supporters, the person who donates the most will earn the right to be Henry’s hairdresser for the day and do the shaving themselves.
